Dating in Boston

Welcome To Boston

Boston: a city filled with hometown pride, established by education and culture, and crawling with men. After succumbing to gypsy soul for several years, and moving being able to call California, Connecticut, and Texas home, I can honestly say Boston is my favorite place of residence. While this city is probably the most difficult to navigate, I would have to say the dating scene is one in the same. I’m staring 26 right in the face, and while my friends are getting engaged or married, I am still trying to find a “plus one” to the most important and memorable days of their lives.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had the privilege of meeting several great guys in this city (and I might even have my eye on one particular guy), but there have been some experiences that leave plenty to be desired. I dabbled in the OK Cupid pool and didn’t have too much luck, but I honestly don’t think I was really ready to date yet. Tinder kept me occupied for a period of time, but I met one person from there, and he didn’t even buy me a Fenway Frank when we met at a Red Sox game (we just have happened to be at the same game). Not only do I have an appetite for attractive men, I have a large appetite period, and going back on your word of buying me food is never appreciated.

I noticed when I go out in the city, whether it’s in Back Bay, the North End, Seaport, or anywhere else that tickles my fancy that night, guys are either really aggressive or stay far away from me. Finding the middle ground is pretty rare, especially when it is during a holistic encounter such as meeting at a bar or the gym, as opposed to having the aid of an app. He’s out there. Who knows, maybe I’ve already met him, I just haven’t realized it yet.

It’s highly unlikely that I am alone in this labyrinth known as dating in Boston. I’m just sharing my experiences and maybe others can learn from them or relate to my stories. If nothing else, I hope others can at least laugh from my future stories. Cheers, Boston!

Xoxo,
Samantha
