The Most Important SEXercise You’re Not Doing… Yet!

We’ve all had those days where we wish someone else could sweat in our stead while still reaping the benefits of flatter abs or a firmer behind.

Well, technology hasn’t come that far in the cardio department, but it has made amazing strides for your pelvic floor muscles.

You might be thinking, “What are my pelvic floor muscles and why do I care again?” Let me explain.

Your pelvic floor muscles (or PC muscles) run from the pubic bone to the tailbone and support your pelvic floor. They control your bladder and have a starring role in the strength and frequency of your orgasms.

Just like any other muscles, they must be exercised or they will atrophy causing a weak pelvic floor over time. If you’ve ever pee’d when you sneezed or laughed, not reached orgasm, not had as many orgasms as you’d like or had that nagging thought “I wonder if i’m tight enough down there”, then it’s time to Kegel!

Kegel exercises are easy to do, but first you have to target the correct muscles. The best way to locate them is to focus on the muscles you use to restrict the flow of urine while going to bathroom. These are the muscles that you’ll tense and relax for your Kegel workout. It only takes 5 minutes a day, you can do them anywhere, and all you have to do is tense and hold for 3-5 seconds, then release for the same amount of time.
Easy right? Well, yes and no. They’re easy to do, but not so easy to remember to do. That’s the rub. But with these easy pelvic floor hacks you’ll be on your way to rock hard PC muscles in no time.

  1. Create a daily trigger: Think about something you’re guaranteed to do on a daily basis, like brushing your teeth or stopping at traffic lights. Then commit to doing your Kegel exercises every time you’re doing one of these things. Sure, you might forget at first, but eventually your brain will link the activity to your exercises. It’ll become a habit, and you’ll be upping your PC stamina in no time.
  2. Get an app for that: Download an app like Kegel Camp which has a daily reminder you can set on your phone or iPad so you’ll never forget to do them again. Plus there are 20 levels with increasing intensity, so you can measure your progress. And you can count on your Kegel Camp counselor will walk you through the exercises and cheer you on.
  3. Buy some balls: Kegel balls are great to add to your routine as they increase resistance and make the exercise even more challenging. The balls have tiny weights inside them; every time you squeeze during your routine, the extra resistance helps to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles even more. You can even wear them for a few hours throughout your daily routine, relying on your PC muscles to hold them in place, which totally counts as your daily sexercise! For some women, these balls even increase arousal as your use them. Talk about adding a little spring to your step!
  4. Up the intensity: Remember when I mentioned how nice it would be to have someone working out for you? Well, there is an amazing new product called the Intensity which comes close, because it actually does your Kegel exercises for you.
