Today, I have some amazing news that I am excited to share: Patti Stanger is teaming up with Matchmaking Institute to offer a community of aspiring and established matchmakers the once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity to learn all of her secrets for success in the matchmaking industry!
As you may know, I worked for Patti back in 2000 when she was launching Millionaires Club. She was such a fabulous mentor to me during those early, good old days of my career, and I am thrilled that she’s willing to mentor others who are participating in our special live training June 10th-June 12th in Los Angeles. Along with love experts Marni Batista, Julie Ferman, and myself, Patti will be sharing everything our students need to know about becoming a successful matchmaker in one of the fastest growing international industries.
Wondering what Patti knows that I now know that you need to know too?
To begin with, matchmaking means business. In other words, if you want to succeed in the matchmaking business, you have to treat it like a business. It’s great getting to talk about love all day but you also have to make sure you are profitable and successful. Things in this field can get overwhelming, but if you structure your business in the way that Patti and I have, you can make great sales and great matches too! Patti taught me how to be on top of new leads and remember lots of information about them. She taught me the importance of calling when you say you will call and setting dates for clients when you promised to. (In matchmaking, people need you to be their social secretary too.) In a nutshell, you’ll need to know the true definition of integrity.
Of equal importance, you need to find your own personal style for working with clients. As many of you know from watching The Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti has a very particular style; you don’t have to have that style to succeed. I realized that I didn’t have to be my mentor’s style—yet I totally admire how Patti so quickly tells it like it is. (It really was so fascinating to watch her pick so much up from just a piece of information!) I’ve developed a style, that-thanks to my background as a social worker, is very nurturing and holistic. It works for my matchmaking business. I have seen other matchmakers with different styles that work for them. At this live training next week, there will be matchmakers with all different styles and it is important to learn from them but in the end pick and choose what style works best for you.
There is so much more to learn about the matchmaking industry; so stay tuned!
