You know the career advice that you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have? Well, that applies to every element of your life. You should always look like you’re living the life you want and it’ll make getting that dream life a whole lot more possible. So, if you’re hoping to snag a millionaire, you should do yourself up like a woman a millionaire would be interested in. But, before you panic, let me assure you that looking like a million bucks doesn’t have to cost a million bucks. For example, you can certainly achieve a millionaire makeup look on a very tight budget. Here’s how.
Use your fingers
Your two hands can save you a boatload on makeup costs if you learn how to apply makeup without brushes. You can very easily apply cream products with your fingers and it’s possible with powders too. Your fingers are better for natural or smoky looks. They can’t replace brushes when it comes to an exacting technique like a cut crease eye shadow application. But, your fingers are good enough tools for most looks and they’re totally free. So use them!
Watch tutorials
YouTube is a treasure trove of information about how to apply makeup and it’s free. It used to be that to get professional advice, you had to pay for it. Or at least pay for a good amount of pricey makeup before you could get the “free” lesson from the pro. But now, the lessons really are free. Take advantage! Find a YouTuber with your skin tone and type and a style you dig and then watch his or her videos. There’s something out there for everyone. I’ve had my makeup professionally done for years and even I learn something from watching YouTube.
Skin, skin, skin
There’s nothing that looks more elegant and regal than good skin. And you don’t need a ton of money to get amazing skin. You just need to take care of yours. And you can do that with products from the drugstore. What’s important is that you find a routine that works for your skin and you’re diligent about it. The price of the products doesn’t matter at all. You can find ways to exfoliate, moisturize and protect your skin from the sun for only a couple of bucks in any drugstore. Or, you can Google up ways to do all of that with items you already have in your pantry. Good skin is the basis for any quality makeup look.
Research dupes
“Dupes” is a term beauty gurus use to describe budget products that are the same exact thing as a luxury item. So, maybe Yves Saint Laurent has a new lipstick that everyone’s going insane over. You want to have that luxe look, but you’re not about to spend $40 on a tube of lipstick. I feel you! All you have to do is Google the brand name and color of the spendy item you want and then add the term “dupe” and voila! Google will bring up links to several options that will give you the look without tanking your monthly budget.
Personalize trends
High quality makeup looks that appear expensive are current, but timeless at once. How they do that is by not getting too in the weeds with trends. Instead, professional makeup artists will assess the trends and figure out how the trend relates best to their client. So, let’s just say bright gold eye shadow is a popular look. If a makeup pro is glamming up a person who would be washed out by a bright gold eye (and most of us would be), the pro will tailor it to the client. Maybe she’ll go with a deep copper that’s more flattering in color, but just a shimmery as the trend. Or she’ll incorporate the golden shimmer trend into the client’s highlight instead of directly on the eye. Whatever she does, she won’t blindly apply any trend to any client. It’s about personalizing trends to yourself so you look sophisticated and effortless, not trendy and trying too hard.
Hope that helps you all make yourself up for the dates you want!
