It’s that time of year. The weather is really warm, well into the nighttime hours. For all of you who have sex on the brain — that can lead to thinking about doing the dirty out in nature. Admit it, you’ve thought of it. There’s no shame. Getting down out in nature seems so romantic. It’s totally something characters in a Nicholas Sparks novel would do… in a field, surrounded by flowers and tall grass… Ryan Gosling… yep. We’re not characters in a Nicholas Sparks novel, though. So in real life, is sex outdoors as sexy as it seems or is it totally tacky? Well, it’s kind of both. Here are some pros and cons of outdoor sex.
Pro: Spices things up
The number one thing outdoor sex has going for it is the spice factor. It’s just nice to get out of your bedroom and get intimate somewhere else. A change in scenery can lead to all kinds of inspiration in the sack. Plus, because it’s kind of naughty to be having sex anywhere other than your bed, there’s a real thrill to sex outside. Also, the chance you could get caught adds to the excitement of it.
Cons: Getting caught
The thrill of maybe getting caught is wonderful. It’s tantalizing and exciting and really brings an X-factor to getting it on. Actually getting caught, on the other hand, is horrible, embarrassing and awkward. And because sex outdoors normally happens in a public place, like a park or in the woods, there’s a very good chance the person who catches you could be law enforcement. As sexy as a stripper in a police costume is, a real officer in a real uniform writing you a ticket for public indecency is not sexy in the slightest.
Pro: Convenience
Sex outside is easy because outside is everywhere! There are no fussy reservations or silly prep you need to do. Just find a spot that looks good and go for it. It doesn’t get any easier than that. There’s a lot to be said for sex that’s spontaneous. (But don’t forget the risk factor in getting caught.)
Con: Dirt
Sex outside sounds incredibly sexy, but when you get down to it, it’s incredibly dirty. And normally, that’s fine. It’s part of the package of outdoor sex. But sometimes the ick factor can get overwhelming. Literally, there can be ants in your pants! And that’s a total mood killer. So pick your spot carefully.
