Have you guys been refreshing People.com for the past week, like I have? They have so much exclusive content on Jessica Simpson’s wedding to Eric Johnson and I am fully obsessed. Jessica Simpson is one of my favorite celebrities of all time. She’s just so herself and unapologetic, which I love. Plus, she’s a reality television pioneer. (Anyone else a major fan of Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica? I lived and died for that show!) I’ve been so happy for her. Her love with Eric seems so real and sweet. They have two beautiful kids together and deserve the world’s most romantic wedding…which they definitely got. Here’s why this wedding was one of my favorite celeb weddings of all time.
Individuality
Like I said, Jessica seems so true to herself and unabashed about who she is. I love that she broadcast her weight loss post baby and didn’t make it look easy at all. She told it like it was! I also think she’s been really honest about her love life with her fans too. What’s great about her is that she doesn’t just appreciate that she herself is an individual, she gets that everyone is their own person. To that end, she didn’t make her bridesmaids all dress the same. (So many brides do that and I really don’t understand why? Just let your favorite people look great in clothing they’re comfortable in!) Jessica’s bridesmaids each had signature couture looks that matched their style and body type. You can tell that each of these women felt beautiful and were in the perfect mind frame to celebrate Jessica and Eric.
Family
Jessica made her wedding a celebration of more than just her love for Eric. She included her love for her family too! Her kids were in the spotlight just as much as she was and her sister and parents also got a lot of love and attention. Even Ashlee’s fiancé was in the wedding party, which is a big show of familial support. A wedding isn’t just about two people who fell in love. It’s about two families coming together and Jessica and Eric paid tribute to both of their families and the family they’ve created together in a beautiful way.
It’s about love
Jessica Simpson’s wedding was undeniably glamorous and over the top. But, at the end of the day, it wasn’t about pomp and circumstance. It was about love. They didn’t cut the cake because they wanted to spend time focusing on what was important to them…partying down with their loved ones. I really love it when couples feel comfortable diverting from normal wedding traditions to make their weddings more about each other and love.
