Before you hear it from anyone else, I wanted to let you know myself — David and I broke up. It’s unfortunate for a million and one reasons and obviously hard and sad for both of us. Parts of me wish neither of us had to go through this. At the same time, I realize that this relationship and break up had to happen because I needed to learn a lot of lessons I never would have been able to learn without dating David. I was at brunch, my all time favorite meal of the week, last weekend and one of my favorite girlfriends turned to me and said, “Brad is boring.” Brad is her boyfriend. And she wasn’t joking. She was dead serious and actually upset about it. I haven’t always been the biggest physical fitness buff. There have been periods of my life where I didn’t work out at all. And let me tell you, I regret them! Re-discovering working out has been one of my best gifts to myself. Working out has made me such a better version of myself. I feel stronger, healthier and more alive now that I work out on a regular basis. Also, I feel like I’m able to be a better partner. Read more
You won’t believe how often I hear the sentence, “Ugh, you won’t believe what my mother just did!” followed by a massive eye roll. All the time! And you might think that I’m spending a large amount of time with teen girls. But, I’m not. I’m hearing this complaint and seeing those ginormous eye rolls from fully grown women. Mother interference is something most women never outgrow. Fortunately, my mother has always respected all boundaries I set up, which kind of makes her the unicorn of Jewish mothers. Read more
