Alright, Valentine’s Day is over (thank god), but that’s no reason to stop looking for a quality relationship.
I was on a panel with Patti Stanger, Celebrity Blogger Extraordinaire Perez Hilton, Cosmopolitan Sex and Relationship Editor Anna Breslaw, and Chief Scientific Advisor to Match.com Dr. Helen Fisher. We celebrated the 4th annual Singles in America study study– the most comprehensive study on singles.
Here’s the video of our panel to get more insights on the do’s and don’ts of dating and sex as a single person. Check it out!
Over 5,000 Singles were surveyed in 2013 to find out what they find irresistibly attractive and what sends them running to the hills.
Most singles found their last date online, and judge their dates by their teeth, grammar, and confidence. Make sure to visit your dentist to tend those pearly whites and become an active reader to brush up on your grammar. DO NOT intentionally use vocabulary words to sound smart. Be yourself and read books that interest you. You’ll find that you have more confidence, opinions, and conversation starters. Reading keeps the mind stimulated!
Being comfortable and happy with yourself is the first step to finding a quality relationship. You’ll notice yourself attracting different types of people when you start feeling more secure about who you are and what you stand for.
Date Etiquette
When you’re on a date, DO NOT be rude to the waiter. How you treat the help staff reveals your character. Also, trying something new at a restaurant shows that you’re adventurous.
Phone Etiquette
After the date, follow up but do not go overboard. Texting more than once before getting a reply is a huge turn-off to men. Slowly step away from the phone, people! Men, resist the urge to send “sexy” selfies. We’d rather see your goods for the first time in person. On the topic of sex, most singles prefer to have sex at 10 pm and most singles actually DON’T want to have sex every day. Oh and 50% of singles want to have sex on a boat…
Social Media Etiquette
How you present yourself on social media is also important. Don’t post a bunch of angsty statuses. You don’t have to share every detail of your life to your 700 “friends.” Highlight moments in your life that positively represent you as a person.
The number one priority for both men and women singles is being treated with respect. However, that doesn’t mean they’ve given up on the romance. 89% of singles still believe they can live happily ever after. Of course, there’s no guarantee that any of us will live happily ever after, but we can treat our date and waiter with respect, cultivate confidence, and put our best foot forward. We can stay positive even when dating seems hopeless, because who knows what the future will hold? You could be having sex on a boat before you know it. There’s another single out there waiting to share your fantasies. Be open and ready to have a meaningful relationship.
