Valentine’s Day is a totally overhyped holiday…that I totally love. I can’t help it! I know it’s turned into a day that’s totally about commercialism and not about love and romance. And while I’m all for a spendy V-Day of wining and dining, that’s not in everyone’s budget. And limited funds really don’t mean that you have to limit your Valentine’s romance at all. Here are five very budget friendly V-Day dates that are just as romantic as the most expensive five-star meal!
At home massage
If you don’t have the money to spend on a relaxing couple’s massage, make it happen on the cheap. All you have to do is watch a YouTube video or two on how to give a good massage and buy some massage oils. You could even make your own with oils you probably have in your kitchen and essential oils, if that’s easier on your wallet. Set up a little massage station with candles and relaxing music and voila! An incredibly romantic activity that only set you back a few bucks. Plus, a massage is even sexier when it’s at home!
Strip tease
Here’s another one where a YouTube tutorial can help. There are a million strip tease how tos out there and don’t worry, you don’t have to be a good dancer or even have rhythm to look sexy while you’re stripping. All you have to do is practice a few times and you’ll be set. New sexy lingerie is a nice touch here, but even if you can’t afford that, a strip tease will still be mega-appreciated by your dude.
Dinner recreation
One of the best parts of being in a relationship is recounting all the fabulous things you two have experienced together. Instead of just recounting it, why not recreate it? If you two had an amazing meal in Paris on your honeymoon, find budget-friendly recipes to make some of those dishes at home. Or, I always like recreating your first dinner date. Music and décor that capture the ambiance of the memory really make this idea romantic.
Nature walk
Living in a big city, I often forget just how romantic nature is. Plus, nature’s totally free. Spend Valentine’s Day outside with your boo. Walk by the beach or river or go on a hike. If you’re in a cold climate, a full on walk might not be all that pleasant. Try moving a space heater outside and making spiked hot cider. Getting outside and enjoying Mother Nature feels special any day of the year, but especially on Valentine’s Day.
Netflix marathon
I love a couch cuddle sesh, especially when it involves watching a romantic movie. Make this Netflix and chill evening special for V-Day by prepping some romantic snacks like popcorn with some pink and red M&Ms mixed in or sandwiches cut into heart shapes. (I’m a total sap! Sorry, not sorry!) You could also set up a special snuggle station with soft blankets and pillows from your bed. Watch a movie that you know your boo will like, even if it’s not traditionally romantic, or a movie that has special relevance to you, like the first flick you two ever saw together.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you! No matter what you’re able to spend, you deserve to have the best, most romantic day! Sending you lots of love!
