Stop jumping through hoops, because you proved yourself. It’s a boss or manager’s turn to trundle out the dog and pony show.
It may feel like you’re letting someone down, but covering for this person only allows the situation to limp along. You need to retire your role as emotional crutch.
You’d be perfectly justified to walk out on a situation, but hang in there. Even if there’s nothing to gain, there’s still a lot to protect.
Jealousy isn’t easy to deal with it but it’s the price you pay for good fortune. Let detractors wallow in their sour grapes.
You can’t follow up an opportunity now, but that won’t always be the case. Keep communications open.
