Hopefully at this point two articles into my summer series you have amped up your summer look and ventured out to meet fabulous singles in your area. Now, all that is left is coming up with some great summer date ideas!
Summer opens up a whole new list of fun options for a date activities. Grabbing drinks, or going out to dinner are no longer the only choice. Get creative this summer! To get the ball rolling, here are my top 10 perfect summer date ideas.
1. Picnic at the park
Grab some snacks and park yourself at the park. People watch together, play some frisbee, rest, and have fun getting to know each other. This date is super fun and low pressure. It’s a perfect activity to do with a person you just recently met.
2. Row boating
This is one of my favorite summer date ideas! Head to your local river or pond, rent a rowboat, and go around for a bit together. The guy can show off his skills (or not, depending on who your date is!) and have a fun adventure that you can then talk about all day long.
3. Beach trip
Going to the beach is always a fun summer activity, but only if you feel comfortable with your body. Don’t take your date to the beach if you are feeling insecure. You want to be your best and most confident self when you are with them.
4. Outdoor movie
Seeing a movie at an outdoor event is a fun alternative to the classic movie date. Being outdoors is very romantic and it’s also usually free! Pack some snacks and snuggle up under the big screen. Just don’t go when it may rain!
5. Go dancing
In NYC we have a fun event at Lincoln Center where you can swing dance under the stars. Find something like this in your area to take your date to! You’ll have the opportunity to dress up a bit and experience something new together.
6. Hit the flea markets
Flea markets and outdoor markets pop up all over the place once summer hits. My husband and I love checking out the flea markets in our neighborhood and seeing what kind of cool tchotchkes we can find along the way. Make a fun game out of it and see how many interesting things you can each find.
7. Star gazing
There is nothing more romantic than sitting outside on a beautiful night with a bottle of wine gazing at the stars. See if you can find the constellations and take advantage of the time alone to get to know each other better.
8. Water parks
Hitting a water park or amusement park is a great way to get the chemicals flowing on your first date. Doing adventurous activities together increases the chance on attraction. If you are both up for it, go for it!
9. Beer garden
Head to an outdoor wine bar or a beer garden. You can experiment with new drinks and food. Just make sure you don’t over do it on the beer!
10. The dog park
If you are a pet lover, what could be better than spending the afternoon at the dog run? Take your dog and your date out for a fun walk and meet the other people and dogs that head to the park that day. If you don’t have a dog, borrow your friends! Or… you could always adopt. But don’t do that just for your date. Make sure you want one for the long haul!
Happy dating!
